History

Bethany Sisters

Bethany congregation was founded by the Servant of God Mar Ivanious on 08th September 1925, in Kerala, India; who had committed himself for self–negation and total submission to the Lord, was a man of reverence for his distinctive personality, rare genius and prayer life. With his great conviction that an educated and cultured young generation might pave the way for contemplation of real mission work, he acted as visionary of education in India. Inspired by ancient Indian traditions of Sanyas, he could succeed to establish an ascetic order based on Christian faith. He accepted women into sisterhood and ordained them for a life of dedications. His mission is continued by the Bethany Sisters (SIC) through various charitable institutions in different parts of India. At present we have educational institutions in all over India.

Our School

St Thomas Bethany Convent School is a Christian Minority educational institution founded and managed by the Sisters of  the Bethany congregation (Bethery Province, Kerala) through a registered trust “Bethany Mission Society, Nashik” in 2006. It is under the religious jurisdiction of the Malankara Catholic Bishop of Pune in the state of Maharashtra. Its purpose is to give an all-round education of academic, physical, moral and spiritual to the children irrespective of religion, race or language inso far as is consonant with Catholic principles.

Bethany Education Policy

We,the Bethany after the example of our founder Servant of God Mar Ivanios, consider education as the integral formation of the young, instructing them in moral values, ensuring quality education that combine spiritual and human formation which will enable them to live purposefully in a challenging world.

A committed band of teachers is the back bone of our educational institutions whose loyalty to the institute professional competency, human dealings and inspiring life style, encourage and motivate our students to achieve excellence in all fronts upholding the Bethany vision.

We enable our students to discover the deeper meaning of life and of transcendence, to think independently and critically, to take the side of the poor, speak for justice and truth, and become agents of empowerment and social transformation.

Our institutions are open to all students irrespective of caste and creed, they are accepted and are helped to grow in their cultural, social and religious traditions.
